Welcome to BASG – the voice of anglers in the Broads Fishery,
With its vast network of rivers, dykes, reed-fringed bays and open water, the Broads are one of the United Kingdom’s most special and historic fishing areas covering some 303 kilometres and a place cherished by anglers from far and wide.
The Broads area forms Britain’s largest and finest wetland and is one of the region’s premier tourist attractions. Angling and fisheries play a key role in supporting the rural economy in the Broads, with visiting anglers contributing more than £120 million to the local economy each year.
Its vital that anglers are involved with the planning, management, and development of angling across the Broads. In 1997, a group of Broadland Anglers wrote and published the original Broads Angling Strategy which was adopted both Environment Agency and The Broads Authority. That Strategy is updated every 4 years and is used today forming the blueprint for the work that BASG does for angling across The Broads.
We are a Community Interest Company there are no profits or big salaries, we are simply anglers trying to improve the Broads Fishery. Our directors are overseen by our members and we are regulated by the CIC regulator.
We welcome all anglers to the BASG, we have different types of membership to suit all levels of interest in our work.
