General Discussion
Tony asked if the list of EA assets and land ownership, seems an area of concern, given the evolving landowner issues at Coldharbour. Would seem a good starting point for BASG.
Clearly Tony is one of the closest people to these issues right across the Broads and needs some guidance in this approach.
Richard my principle fishing is by boat from Wayford Bridge, what about fishing from boats of which many seem to carry rods onboard. I pay a toll for my boat, plus an EA licence. But how can we address a general boat licence, possible via some form of surcharge from the Hire Boats.
Poaching is also one of my concerns and my experience is that none of the statutory bodies have the willingness and ability to enforce this.
Much of this is highlighted within the governments landscape review and the way our landscape is managed and the level of funded needed to enforce this. This was one of our key objectives within the NEIRF grant to capture revenues to support this.
Martyn confirmed all that has been said and focus need to address the tourist pound.
Steve confirmed that current bye-law confuse the issue, with one pike upto 65cm legal to take.
Tony raised concerns over the history of fishing within the Hubert Woods basin, which was leased to anglers as a winter fishery for decades. Duncan has meetings on site in the coming weeks.
Significant discussion on enforcement and linkages to things like VBS. Kelvin proposed to introduce a working group to look into this as part of the solution.
Discussion on the issues around Hoveton and birds and potential impact to wider angling across the whole of the village. Duncan is currently dealing with the parish council on this.
