We hope this circular finds you all in good health at this challenging time. We have had a fair amount of progress across the Wensum Catchment Partnership this year and feel it is timely to share these developments with our fellow members

I’m pleased to announce the first Wensum Catchment Steering Group meeting in December. The attendees for this are currently being agreed to include representation from the work on all our Morphology, Ecology and Pollution projects, as well as being aligned to and feeding into the wider Broadlands Catchment Partnership. 

Please find below the draft steering group ToRs. A key outcome of the December meeting will also be to provide an output and action plan to be distributed within this wider group.

We have know reached  a milestone and have secured the new Project Officer, Jessie Leach, who will be working with Norfolk Rivers Trust to convene the steering group and provide support to delivering actions and projects for the Wensum Catchment projects. Jessie lives in Norwich having just completed her MSc in Environment (Catchment Water Resources) and Development (International Water Security). She grew up in Kenya and wrote her thesis on Nature-based Solutions to climate change in Kenya’s Mara River Basin. She is also familiar with the work of CaBA, the Broadlands Catchment Partnership, and has studied water quality within the River Wensum. She looks forward to meeting and working with you.

It’s been 12 months since our launch last year and what a year its been. Some of you have indicated already your wish to be involved with the steering group and we will be in touch in the coming weeks.

Draft Wensum Catchment Partnership Steering Group ToRs

1. Purpose / role of the group:

1.1. To facilitate collaboration between Wensum catchment partners, providing guidance and support to all stakeholders delivering projects in the Wensum Catchment. To align the work to the wider Broadlands Catchment Partnership

1.2. To agree key actions and delivery of Wensum Catchment restoration work.

1.3. Decision-making body who can resolve issues surrounding risks or delays to delivering Wensum projects.

NB: The steering group recognises that sub-groups are / will be formed separately to deliver morphology, ecology and pollution projects. The purpose of this steering group is to provide overall direction and review for the Wensum Catchment and feed into the Broadlands Catchment Partnership.

2. Attendees

2.1. Chair: rolling chair selected from the attendees. Project Officer to convene the meeting and collate minutes, logs and key outputs.

2.2. Representatives from ecology, morphology and pollution workstreams – to cover all stakeholder organisations involved in River Wensum work.

2.3. Broadland Catchment Partnership representative.

2.4. Norfolk Rivers Trust representative.

3. Frequency

3.1. To meet quarterly and review the outcomes, delivery and pipeline of Wensum Catchment restoration projects.

4. Outputs

4.1. Actions, decisions and risk log.

4.2. Wensum Story map containing key Wensum data measures and information.

4.3. Key materials disseminated to Wensum Catchment projects.
